It was wonderful to see some Sober Club members, Alcohol Free Life podcast listeners and curious Londoners at our recent Christmas meet up and live podcast recording at Club Soda the incredible alcohol free bar in Covent Garden.

Firstly its amazing to be surrounded by like minded people, connection is key.
You know my mantra - Keep the Ritual - Change the Ingredients
We really did that! To able to pick any drink from the menu including AF mulled wine, amazing AF cocktails and even alcohol free fizz and red ‘wine’ felt like a treat. So much fun and not a hangover in sight!
My guest was
author of ‘Sort your Head out - Mental health without all the bo*****s’ and he was hilarious, describing how it feels when you finally ‘come out’ to your friends about sobriety - as Sam says: ‘Rather than being ridiculed, most people are impressed or indifferent, both are fine, but the overwhelming response was positive, so much so that you become passionate about sharing the topic’. Sam reckons he developed ‘Sobriety Tourettes’ - I think I’ve got it too!Of course we chatted a bit about my new book too ‘From Wham to Woo - A Life on the mic’ You can get a copy of From Wham to Woo - A LIfe on the mic HERE or message me if you'd like a signed copy and I will add P&P
Get Sam’s book HERE or a signed copy from Barnes bookshop.
Who wants alcohol in their skincare and wellbeing products!
We had some amazing wellbeing goody bags supplied by some natural brands who I have worked with for my Platinum Awards and I value them hugely. So often when we ditch the booze we realise we want to have another look at everything! Why would we want potentially toxic chemicals, if we have removed the poison that is alcohol!
If you want try these goodies..

I’m hosting a webinar on Wed 11 December 7.45pm Bossing your Christmas Sober and as part of our live podcast we shared some tips. especially if its your first Sober Christmas
Here are 12 practical and empowering tips for navigating the Christmas season sober:
1. Have a Plan: Remember that ‘No’ is a complete sentence
Decide in advance which events you’ll attend and how long you’ll stay. Setting boundaries can help you stay in control.2. Bring Your Own Drinks: keep the ritual change the ingredients
Stock up on non-alcoholic options you genuinely enjoy—sparkling water, mocktails, or alcohol-free beer—so you never feel left out.3. Prepare Your Responses:
Anticipate questions or offers of alcohol and have a ready response, such as “I’m taking a break from drinking” or “I’m feeling so much less anxious.” Change the conversation!4. Rely on a Support System: Be connected
Stay connected with sober friends, accountability partners, or support groups. They can offer encouragement when you need it most. Join us in The Sober Club5. Avoid Triggers:
Identify situations, people, or places that might tempt you to drink and either skip them or have an exit strategy in place.6. Practice Self-Care:
Make time for activities that help you relax and recharge, like exercise, meditation, or simply enjoying some quiet time. (so often we discover we are not in fact extroverts, we’re highly sensitive!)7. Host Your Own Events:
Take control by hosting gatherings where alcohol isn’t the focus, like a festive movie night, dinner party, or game night. Provide AF cocktails, your guests can drive home!8. Volunteer or Help Out: - make it all about giving back
Redirect your energy by giving back during the season, such as volunteering at a local charity or helping friends and family with their holiday prep.9. Stay Present:
Use mindfulness techniques to stay in the moment and appreciate the joys of the season— a walk in nature works a treat, or go see the sparkly lights in your nearest town.10. Celebrate Your Wins:
Reflect on how far you’ve come and reward yourself for staying sober during such a challenging time of year. Treat yourself to a special gift or activity as a reminder of your strength.Join us on Wed 11 Dec for our webinar ‘Bossing your Christmas Sober’
