Despite the fact that I have been a writer, speaker and presenter for years, starting something new isn’t easy. I LOVE everything about Substack and the writers I follow, but I have allowed myself to procrastinate and not get started. So often, (now that I work as a Sober coach and train others) I find myself pointing fingers back at myself, as I inspire others to ‘Just do it’, Don’t compare yourself to others…and other lovely motivational titbits that trip off my tongue, but don’t always ring true for me personally. I’d previously written about the ‘productivity hack’ ‘Eat the Frog’, (Identify the biggest seemingly difficult tasks and do them first…nothing else is as bad) So finally today I ate it. Lets hope its leaves a juicy taste!
Whats it all about?
I’m launching this space to share some thoughts around the things that inspire me, i already write blog posts, host a podcast Alcohol Free Life and share newsletters, but this feels like a space to go a bit deeper and write about what’s evolving. I hope to build a community of people who care about their health and wellbeing, over and above the ‘Eat 5 portions for fruit and veg a day’ and ‘Go for a walk to improve your mental health’. I’d like to explore what really works when it comes to optimum holistic health, emotional and spiritual wellbeing and hear what works for you.
For me, everything is underpinned by sobriety. I never had a rock bottom moment with the booze, but for years, while I was allegedly Queen of holistic living, I was stepping around the elephant in the room that was alcohol. I got free from the Alcohol Trap at the end of 2017 and my only regret is not doing it sooner.
From High Bottomed to Sober Curious
You may be sober curious, or already sober, or maybe you are a ‘mindful drinker’…. good to go, but I won’t be able to stop myself banging on about the benefits of sobriety, about just how much more clarity and joy comes into your life, just how much more ‘aligned’ its possible to be when you ditch the booze. Sobriety Rocks - Who Knew! was the title of my TEDx talk in 2019 and that changed a lot for me.
I realised I was in good company. Alcohol is the social glue that sticks everything together, celebrations to commiserations - everything in between. Many, many people are ‘self-medicating’ with alcohol, and looking for a way out. The great news is that you don’t need to wait till you’re rock bottom to step off the booze elevator. I started The Sober Club soon after, and its a joy to host that community with members who are sober curious, through to those who have been sober for years, because its about so much more than ‘Not Drinking’, its about living your best life without the booze.

I will be posting here at least weekly, and would love to offer group sessions too. My posts won’t all be about sobriety, I want a platform to talk about the ‘Woo woo’, and I’d love to hear what works for you. I’ll share the magic of transformation, the incredible experiences in Family Constellations,. I’ll be writing about the magic of EFT, Matrix Reimprinting, The power of crystals, the guidance of angels, and the principles of positive psychology. I will share some of the work I’ve done with natural healing modalities that support the body’s innate ability to heal, promoting long-term wellness without the side effects often associated with big pharma. From herbal supplements to mindfulness practices, I’ll share tools and inspiration - I’ll remind myself ….When you're aligned with your true self, everything starts to flow effortlessly.
Keeping the Vibes High
I want to share my own journey of finally being able to ‘meditate’, (sadly still no levitation or even managing twenty minutes twice a day) but showing up nevertheless, when previously, despite being a Hay House author, and amassing a wealth of knowledge interviewing leading Gurus, I couldn’t meditate, because I wasn’t authentic, I simply couldn’t settle, so it felt easier just to walk away, and decide to try again tomorrow.
Alcohol and Low Vibration:
The reality is that drinking alcohol lowers your vibration, it acts as a depressant, lowering our frequency and impairing our ability to think clearly and positively. It disrupts our mental and physical health, leading to energy drains and mood swings. I may even dig into the curious origins of the word Alcohol. It derives from the Arabic word "al-khul," which refers to a spirit or a body-eating spirit. (charming!)
Some believe that alcohol was traditionally associated with spiritual entities because of its intoxicating effects. ‘He’s not himself when he is drinking!’ Ever said that? There could be a reason why alcoholic beverages are often referred to as "spirits!"
There are SO many benefits of an alcohol-Free lifestyle, improved energy levels, mental clarity, and overall well-being, but coming back to who you really are - being authentic kinda tops it all. When you have a higher vibration, it makes it easier to attract positive experiences and manifest your desires.
I’ll be exploring some of the ways we can keep those vibes high!
Please do subscribe to this channel and let me know what topics you’d like me to cover. Over the years I have interviewed just about everyone in the world of natural health and sobriety and I have most definitely got an opinion on optimum wellbeing.
I look forward to sharing and learning with you!
Great to see you here Janey! Look forward to reading your words xx
