Sober Coaching: A New Path to Freedom, and a Powerful Career Shift

Its International Coaching Week I’m told, and I am super proud to call myself a coach, and to inspire others to add coaching skills to their toolkit.
There’s a quiet but powerful revolution happening in the world of personal development, and it’s being led by those choosing to put down the wine glass and pick up something more meaningful.
As more people begin to re-evaluate their relationship with alcohol, there’s growing awareness that support doesn’t always need to come in the form of rehab or recovery programmes. Enter the rise of sober coaching, its a rapidly growing niche that meets people exactly where they are, especially those who sit in the space we now call ‘Grey area drinking’
These are the people who don’t identify as having an addiction, but who know deep down that alcohol is holding them back. It’s the ‘I don’t drink to oblivion… but I think about it more than I’d like’ crowd. The ‘I’m successful, but this isn’t how I want to feel’ inner whisper. No rock bottoms, just a rising desire for more. More clarity. More energy. More authenticity.
This is where coaching comes in. Not to judge or diagnose, but to hold space, ask better questions, and guide someone back to their own power.
Sober coaching is about forward momentum, not labels. It’s supportive, non-judgmental, and incredibly effective, because it meets people in the now, and helps them build a life they don’t want to escape from.
And, perhaps unsurprisingly, the most powerful sober coaches are those who’ve walked the path themselves. They’ve felt the discomfort of “just one won’t hurt” culture, and they’ve discovered what’s possible on the other side. Now, they’re turning that lived experience into purpose. I get lots of queries about my holistic sober coach training programme from coaches and practitioners who have seen the growth in the market and want to add sober coaching to their toolkit. Sadly I can’t work with them unless they have had their own experience and chosen abstinence, because sobriety rocks, and we will be telling our clients in no uncertain terms, that there is NOTHING to lose from quitting alcohol. (and even one glass is harmful - we don’t sugarcoat it) They aren’t ‘giving up’, they’re gaining a life, they’re coming back to who they really are - without the toxic poison.
I have been a coach for many years, and have trained in health coaching, sober / recovery coaching, nutrition, NLP, EFT, Matrix Re-imprinting and more recently Family Constellations. I’ve been sober for almost 8 years, and a few years ago decided to bring all my strengths and years of experience in heart centered biz and media, and create a truly holistic sober coach training programme, which starts with two intensive days in person (oh yes transformation happens!) and continues online, in fact it never really ends, as we stay connected as a ‘dream team’ of connection and collaboration. There is also the opportunity to be featured on my Find a Coach Directory of coaches who have trained with me.
If that sounds like something stirring within you — either as someone who’s exploring their own sobriety, or someone who wants to help others on that path — now’s the perfect time.

Because freedom doesn’t always look like a rock bottom and a rescue. Sometimes, it starts with a single question:
‘Could my life be better, physically and emotionally without alcohol?
I hope you know its a big YES! …You could help others reach the same conclusion
